Our Board of Directors is comprised of national leading experts in the field of Gynecologic Oncology with expertise in a wide range of areas.

Dr. Altman is the President of the Society of Gynecologic Oncology of Canada (GOC), the program director for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Professor at the University of Manitoba, past-chair of the University Medical Group (UMG), vice chair for the Medical Management Safety Committee (MMSC) at CancerCare Manitoba, the previous co-chair of the Canadian Obstetrics and Gynecology Review program (COGRP), and the current secretary for Doctors Manitoba.

Dr. Alon Altman

President

Dr. Helen MacKay is a Medical Oncologist and Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. She is Head of the Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology at the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and Senior Scientist at the Sunnybrook Research Institute. Dr. MacKay’s research involves collaborating with translational and basic scientists in the development and validation of novel therapeutic strategies. She is the pas-president of GOC.

Dr. Helen MacKay

Dr. Salvador is the President-elect at the Society of Gynecologic Oncology of Canada (GOC). She Trained in advanced laparoscopic surgery in Vancouver.

Dr Salvador is currently working at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal where she is including robotic surgical techniques in the treatment of gynaecological cancers.

Her current research focuses on the molecular analysis of endometrial cancers.

Dr. Michael Fung-Kee-Fung is a professor, departments of Obstetrics/Gynecology and Surgery and cross-appointed professor, Telfer School of Management, University of Ottawa. He is currently Head of Surgical Oncology and Medical Director of the Champlain Regional Cancer Program at The Ottawa Hospital. He is also presently Co-Founder and Co-Lead of the Health Transformation Exchange Initiative at the Telfer School of Management. He has a passionate interest in health systems transformation, learning health systems and the role of collaborative methodologies in health innovation including research.

Dr. Michael Fung-Kee-Fung

Dr. Jacob McGee is a Gynecologic Oncologist at London Health Science Centre in London.  He completed his fellowship training at the University of Toronto after residency training in obstetrics & gynecology at the University of Ottawa.  He has a master’s in public health from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Western Ontario.

Dr. Jacob McGee

Mark Carey is a Clinical Professor in the Division of Gynaecologic Oncology, UBC. He completed his medical degree and Obstetrics & Gynaecology residency at the University of Western Ontario, a fellowship in Gynaecologic Oncology at the University of Toronto and McMaster University, and a research fellowship in the Department of Systems Biology at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Centre.

He runs his research program through OvCaRe.

Dr. Mark Carey

Dr. Taymaa May is a Gynecologic Oncologist at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. She received her medical degree from McGill University in Montreal and went on to do residency at the University of Toronto during which time she completed the Clinician Investigator Program and received a Master’s of Science degree from the Institute of Medical Science. Dr. May completed a three-year fellowship in Gynecology Oncology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/ Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA.

Dr. Taymaa May

Director, Business Unit

Dr. Danielle Vicus is a gynecologic oncologist at the Odette Cancer Center, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center. She completed her medical degree at the Ben Gurion University in Israel and went on to complete a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Sheba Medical Centre in Tel-Aviv, Israel. Dr. Vicus further completed her fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Toronto and obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology through the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Danielle Vicus

Director, Communities of Practice

Christa Slatnik is a Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years’ experience working with gyne-oncology patients. As the only Gyne-Oncology Nurse Practitioner in Manitoba, Christa has the ability to offer a standardized compassionate approach to all gyne-oncology patients throughout the province as they are transitioning in different parts of their cancer journey, including transitioning to maintenance therapy. Christa also plays a role on the national level as an active member within CANO, GOC and the WOCC.

Lua R. Eiriksson completed her medical degree at Dalhousie University and Residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Alberta.

She completed a 3-year fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Toronto (Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and Odette/Sunnybrook Cancer Centre), and obtained a Master’s in Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health.

Dr. Lua Eiriksson

Director, Guidelines

Rachelle Findley hails from rural Southern Alberta. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy at the University of Alberta and worked as a community pharmacist throughout her medical degree in Edmonton.

Obstetrics and Gynecology residency took her across the country to Halifax at Dalhousie University.

She completed her Gynecologic Oncology fellowship through the University of Calgary in 2021.

Dr. Rachelle Findley

Director, Communications

Dr. Lesley Roberts is a Gynecologic Oncologist at the Durham Regional Cancer Centre in Oshawa, Ontario. She completed her medical degree at Queen’s University and her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dalhousie University. She then completed a Gynecologic Oncology fellowship at the University of Manitoba in 2020. She is currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Health Economics, Policy, and Management at the London School of Economics.
