The GOC Board of Directors, elected by the membership at large, is comprised of national experts in the field of Gynecologic Oncology with diverse expertise. The Board provides strategic oversight and governance, ensures the organization fulfills its mission, remains fiscally responsible, and represents the best interests of the members. The Board directors include the president, president-elect, immediate past president, chief strategy officer, secretary-treasurer, secretary-treasurer-elect, and directors of education, communities of practice, guidelines, business, research, advocacy, nursing, and fellows.

As GOC President, Dr. Shannon Salvador works with the Society to promote and advance women’s health care in oncology for equality of access of care to all women in Canada.
She is an Associate Professor at McGill University and the Program Director of the Gynecologic Oncology Subspecialty Residency Program. She works at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal where her research interests are in molecular studies of gynecologic cancers and she is the Head of the Colposcopy Program.

Dr. Jacob McGee is a Gynecologic Oncologist at London Health Science Centre in London. He completed his fellowship training at the University of Toronto after residency training in obstetrics & gynecology at the University of Ottawa. He has a master’s in public health from the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Western Ontario.

Dr. Alon Altman is the GOC Past-President & Chief Strategy Officer, the Associate Head Research and Chair of the promotions, tenure and credentials committee for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Professor at the University of Manitoba, past-chair of the University Medical Group (UMG), past-vice chair for the Medical Management Safety Committee (MMSC) at CancerCare Manitoba, the past co-chair of the Canadian Obstetrics and Gynecology Review program (COGRP), and the current president-elect for Doctors Manitoba.

Mark Carey is a Clinical Professor in the Division of Gynaecologic Oncology, UBC.
He completed his medical degree and Obstetrics & Gynaecology residency at the University of Western Ontario, a fellowship in Gynaecologic Oncology at the University of Toronto and McMaster University, and a research fellowship in the Department of Systems Biology at the University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Centre.
He runs his research program through OvCaRe.

George Gray is a Gynaecologic Oncologist who is an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Queen’s University. He is a member of the Division of Gynaecologic Oncology at the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario. He is Assistant Program Director for the Queen’s University Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program. Initially trained at the University of Ottawa, he has been practicing at the Kingston Health Science Centre.

Dr. Danielle Vicus is the Director of Communities of Practice.
She is the Head of the Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the Odette Cancer Center, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Toronto.
She completed her fellowship at the University of Toronto and obtained a Master’s of Science in Clinical Epidemiology through the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation. She is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Helen MacKay is a Medical Oncologist and Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto. She is Head of the Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology at the Odette Cancer Centre at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, and Senior Scientist at the Sunnybrook Research Institute. Dr. MacKay’s research involves collaborating with translational and basic scientists in the development and validation of novel therapeutic strategies. She is the pas-president of GOC.

Dr. Julie Nguyen is an Assistant Professor at McMaster University. She is Gynecologic Oncologist at the Juravinski Hospital. She completed her fellowship at the University of Toronto. She has completed a Masters of Science in Healthcare Improvement and Patient Safety, and published on several multidisciplinary perioperative improvement projects, including initiatives to decrease surgical site infections and thromboembolic events after gynecologic oncology surgery.

Dr. Shaina Lee is a Gynecologic Oncologist in Victoria, British Columbia, with 4.5 years of experience as a staff gynecologic oncologist in Regina, Saskatchewan. Dr. Lee earned her medical degree from the University of Calgary and completed her residency and fellowship at UBC. Additionally, she holds a Master’s in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. She is passionate about public education on women’s health and gynecological cancers.

Christa Slatnik is a Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years’ experience working with gyne-oncology patients. As the only Gyne-Oncology Nurse Practitioner in Manitoba, Christa has the ability to offer a standardized compassionate approach to all gyne-oncology patients throughout the province as they are transitioning in different parts of their cancer journey, including transitioning to maintenance therapy. Christa also plays a role on the national level as an active member within CANO, GOC and the WOCC.

Lua R. Eiriksson completed her medical degree at Dalhousie University and Residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the University of Alberta.
She completed a 3-year fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Toronto (Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and Odette/Sunnybrook Cancer Centre), and obtained a Master’s in Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Toronto’s Dalla Lana School of Public Health.

Dr. Lesley Roberts is a Gynecologic Oncologist and Assistant Professor at the University of Manitoba and CancerCare Manitoba. She completed her medical degree at Queen’s University and her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dalhousie University. She then completed a Gynecologic Oncology fellowship at the University of Manitoba in 2020. She holds a Master’s of Science degree in Health Economics, Policy, and Management completed at the London School of Economics.
