Committees are appointed by the GOC Board to support specific strategic and operational priorities and activities. They bring together members from various practice locations with diverse experiences and perspectives who collaborate on initiatives, provide guidance, and make recommendations to the Board that promote informed decision-making and advance GOC’s progress toward its vision and mission. Membership is restricted to GOC members, selected for fixed terms through a formal nomination process conducted at least annually.

EXECUTIVE

Chair: Dr. Jacob McGee (President)

Executive Committee. Provides strategic leadership and oversight between Board meetings, acting on delegated authority to support the organization’s governance and operations. Guides strategic priorities, monitors performance, and addresses time-sensitive or emerging issues, while ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals, policies, and values.

AGM

Chair: Dr. Liat Hogen

Annual General Meeting (AGM) Program Planning Committee. Plans and delivers the GOC AGM, with a focus on developing a high-quality educational program. Conducts needs assessments and ongoing evaluation to inform program priorities and maintain educational quality. Ensures content aligns with the goals of both internal and external parties. Oversees event logistics, recruits qualified faculty, and fosters a meaningful and engaging AGM experience.

CPD

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program Planning Committee. Plans and delivers the GOC CPD, with a focus on developing a high-quality educational program. Conducts needs assessments and ongoing evaluation to inform program priorities and maintain educational quality. Ensures content aligns with the goals of both internal and external parties. Oversees event logistics, recruits qualified faculty, and fosters a meaningful and engaging CPD experience.

EDUCATION

Education Committee. Oversees the GOC Academy, ensuring the delivery of accessible, high-quality educational programming for members, healthcare professionals, industry partners, and the public. Identifies learning needs, guides development of relevant programs and resources, and ensures timely communication of educational opportunities. Collaborates with internal and external parties to create relevant content. Evaluates program quality and impact through needs assessments.

FELLOWSHIP EXAM

Chair: Dr. Brenna Swift
Chair-Elect: Dr. Andra Nica

Fellowship Exam Planning Committee. Plans the annual GOC Fellowship Examination, providing fellows with a valuable opportunity to practice decision-making on complex cases. Develops and reviews exam cases and questions, incorporates feedback from examiners and past candidates, and remains available to conduct exams during the examination period. Recommends improvements to enhance the learning and assessment experience.

FINANCE

Chair: Dr. Mark Carey (Secretary-Treasurer)
Chair-Elect: Dr. George Gray (Secretary-Treasurer-Elect)

Finance Committee. Oversees the organization’s financial affairs. Develops financial policies, monitors operations, and manages investments. Reviews annual and multi-year budgets aligned with strategic goals and financial statements, and recommends the auditors. Leads fundraising efforts, sets long-term financial objectives, cultivates relationships with sponsors, and supports securing funds to support ongoing operations and projects.

GUIDELINES

Chair: Dr. Ji-Hyun Jang
Chair-Elect: Dr. Mathieu Viau

Guidelines Committee. Develops and oversees evidence-based policy statements and opinion pieces on emerging issues and trends in gynecologic oncology. Produces and updates clinical practice guidelines, recruiting expert authors as needed, to support practitioners in the provision of optimal patient care.

MEMBERSHIP & NOMINATIONS

Chair: Dr. Shannon Salvador (Past President)

Membership & Nominations Committee. Oversees the recruitment, retention, and engagement of the organization’s members. Defines membership categories, requirements, and the application process. Provides strategic guidance on member engagement, surveys members to assess needs and satisfaction, fosters partnerships to enhance member benefits, and reviews and recommends candidates for board and committee leadership, as well as the GOC Presidential Medal.

NURSING

Chair: Ms. Christa Slatnik

Nursing Committee. Provides a community for gynecologic oncology nurse leaders to connect, share expertise, and collaborate on initiatives that promote excellence in care. Addresses issues impacting nurse members, supports professional development through educational fellowships and grants, recommends nurse appointments to GOC leadership positions, and participates in multi-site and multidisciplinary research.
