Physician, Division of Gynaecologic Oncology, University Health Network and Sinai Health System

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine, along with the Joint Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at University Health Network (UHN) and Sinai Health System (SHS), are seeking a full-time gynaecologic oncologist. The successful candidate will have an academic position description of clinician investigator or clinician educator, based on the career pathway and future goals of the applicant, and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor at the University of Toronto. The anticipated start date is July 1st, 2022, or sooner.

This position is based at UHN, recently identified as Newsweek’s #4 hospital in the world. In joining an accomplished team of 7 gynaecologic oncologists at UHN and a broader group of 19 gynaecologic oncologists working within the University of Toronto’s Division of Gynaecologic Oncology, the successful applicant will prioritize working collegially as well as have a strong commitment to patient care, innovative research, and teaching.

This group is the largest of its kind in Canada and one of the largest in North America with over 1,200 consultations per year, providing comprehensive care to women with gynaecologic malignancies. The UHN-SHS group’s scope of practice includes complex cytoreductive surgery and advanced expertise in minimally invasive surgery. The group has access to three Da Vinci robotic systems. Gynaecologic oncology at UHN incorporates the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre while SHS is integrated into a multidisciplinary group including medical and radiation oncology, pathology and radiology. Considerable collaborative opportunities exist with other specialties within this multidisciplinary group.

The Division has a robust and productive research program that includes basic, translational, clinical, and health services. Research forms a high strategic priority and is strongly supported by the Joint Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at UHN and SHS, and more broadly by the University of Toronto. Given the importance of research in the division, only candidates with an established commitment to their research are encouraged to apply; surgical innovation is of particular interest. For those interested in educational research, the Wilson Centre and Michener Institute for Education based at UHN provide an ideal framework for collaboration.

Enthusiastic participation in all levels of our teaching and education mandate (undergraduate, residency, fellowship) is expected as the division participates in teaching of trainees at all levels, including sub-specialty training in gynaecologic oncology that is fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The successful candidate will promote and demonstrate excellence in professional practice and conduct.

Candidates must either be licensed, or be eligible for independent or restricted academic licence, under the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Qualified applicants must either be board-certified (or eligible for certification) in the subspecialty of gynaecologic oncology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), or have achieved an equivalent level of regulated subspecialty training in gynaecologic oncology, in addition to the MD degree.

This position is funded through the provincial Alternate Payment plan in Gynaecologic Oncology. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Applications will be accepted until November 30th, 2021, or until the position is filled.

Qualified candidates are requested to apply with a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and the names of three referees via e-mail to:
